Our Story
Rob and Joe met through a matchmaking service in Chicago while Rob was spending time with one of his best friends, Liz Halliday — his sister from another mother — during an important chapter of her life there. Joe and Rob were the very first match the matchmaker sent, and after an hour-long phone call that somehow felt like only ten minutes, they both knew something special had begun. When Joe mentioned he’d be traveling to Palm Springs for work the upcoming week, Rob trusted his instinct and booked them a stay at the Parker Hotel — already convinced Joe was “the one.” That instinct proved right.
In late October, Rob and Joe became engaged in France in a moment straight out of a film. After Joe had just landed from the U.S., they went to see Rob's horse — freshly walking out of competition arena — with the engagement ring braided into his mane (the very same horse Liz rode in the Paris Olympics). The instant Joe spotted the ring, Rob dropped to one knee, completely catching him off guard — a rare and wonderful feat for anyone who knows Joe. Palm Springs, and The Parker, now hold a deeply special place in their hearts, which is why they’re thrilled to celebrate their wedding here.
